unfortunately during warm summer months we find aphids love them so much they sometimes end up in packages at the store. 😳 (if you found one, scroll down to contact us.)
don’t worry, they aren’t harmful to humans—but we wanted to explain how this happens, and what we’re doing to combat it.
the perks of being organic
healthy, organic
growing provides more sustainable farming and a happier mother 🌎—and that’s something we will always be committed to! but it also means natural methods of aphid control.
just like
backyard gardening or farmers markets, aphids can make their way into organicgirl greens too. we employ resistant-plant varieties and natural predators, but it’s an ongoing process!
so fresh and so clean
all of our greens are washed three times inside the salad plant, and during aphid season we add extra washes to minimize aphids making it into packages.
our wash system is very effective in removing aphids but on very rare occasions they hang on tight and hide away, especially in head lettuces.
no one wants to share their yummy greens, especially not when aphids got to it first! if you happen to find a critter in your salad, or are not happy with your salad in any way, lettuce know right away.we want to hear from you.
